Main Immigration Pathways
1. Investment Citizenship (Citizenship by Investment)
Turkey’s Citizenship by Investment program, often referred to as the "Golden Passport," offers a straightforward route to Turkish citizenship for individuals willing to make qualifying investments. Options include purchasing real estate worth at least $400,000, making a bank deposit or investing in fixed capital or government bonds of at least $500,000, or establishing a business that employs a minimum of 50 Turkish citizens. All investments must be held for at least three years. This program is popular for its relatively low financial threshold, clear requirements, and rapid pathway to citizenship, making it an attractive choice for investors seeking global mobility and access to Turkey’s dynamic market.
2. Regular Residence and Naturalization
Turkey also provides several traditional pathways to residence and eventual citizenship. This includes work visas, which require employer sponsorship and are typically valid for one year with the possibility of renewal; study visas for international students, leading to residence permits that can be extended based on eligibility; and family reunion visas, which allow spouses and children to join family members in Turkey, usually with a two-year validity. Marriage to a Turkish citizen offers another route, permitting naturalization after three years of marriage, with the process generally taking 1.5 to 2 years for approval. Additionally, individuals who maintain continuous residence in Turkey for five years on temporary or work permits can apply for long-term residency and, subsequently, citizenship. These pathways provide flexibility for professionals, students, and families looking to build a future in Turkey.
