457 Visa vs 482 Visa
457 visa was a temporary work visa valid for 2 or 4 years, which was discontinued on April 18, 2017 and replaced by the 482 visa. Those who currently hold a valid 457 visa will be automatically extended until July 8, 2025 according to new policies
Both are employer-sponsored visas, where the employer nominates an occupation, allowing the applicant to work in Australia
Australian 482 Visa (TSS)
Also known as the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa, this replaces the previous 457 visa. The 482 employer-sponsored visa requires sponsorship from an eligible Australian employer for overseas skilled workers, with higher requirements than the 457 visa. It was formally implemented on March 18, 2018
